Our ideal candidate must have a thorough and solid knowledge of maintaining IBM servers and enterprise storage servers based on Unix and AIX environments.

A talented, forward-thinking, solution-oriented individual must have extensive experience in troubleshooting, monitoring and administering servers and storage applications, etc., as well as ensuring 100% uptime %.

The potential candidate must be able to support and manage projects on Unix and IBM servers and related applications.

The talented, forward-thinking, solution-oriented individual must be comfortable with the day-to-day administration of enterprise storage systems (DS) and storage area networks (SANs) for IBM p-Series and the business of management and thrive with tight deadlines and changing needs. Banking experience will be an added advantage.


Oversee the management and administration of Unix servers, bank storage and backup servers and ensure 24 X 7 availability and 100% availability.


  • Active coordination of team activities, planning and resolution of incidents.
  • Review daily backup report on all backup domains and fix missed/failed backup scenarios.
  • Administration of backup and recovery activities across the enterprise.
  • Investigating and resolving storage and backup infrastructure system alerts.
  • Coordinate data recovery and business continuity activities.
  • Collaborate with OEMs and business partners for technical support and maintenance.
  • Execute assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.
  • Attend IT strategy meetings to deliberate and provide recommendations to the business for operational efficiency and strategy development.
  • Follow up with OEMs on problem resolutions.
  • Review system activities/performance reports with OEMs.
  • Perform periodic firmware updates with OEMs and trading partners.
  • Manage the file system monitoring process.
  • Ensure that daily hardware infrastructure checks and reports are performed.
  • Make sure that proper inventory of all UNIX-related servers is done correctly.
  • Conduct performance appraisals of UNIX administration team members.
  • Health checks and monitoring and administration of the VPLEX virtualized infrastructure.
  • Manage enterprise data replication to production and DR site and review replication activities/logs.
  • Provide performance/infrastructure advice and recommendations.
  • Manage system updates, patching and upgrades in accordance with change control approval.
  • Unix (AIX) system administration of IBM servers and enterprise storage server.
  • Design, install and configure UNIX servers according to specific application needs and requirements.
  • Periodically tune and optimize UNIX system servers and related components to achieve high availability and performance of the various supported business applications.
  • Disk space and file system management on IBM servers.
  • Perform all periodic maintenance activities on IBM AIX servers, including system software configuration, user account maintenance, file system and volume group management, patch updates, etc.
  • Manage and coordinate data recovery requests after proper approval.
  • Ensure tape backup media is properly documented and transported offsite.
  • Research and implementation of new technologies for better data recovery.
  • Administration of enterprise storage systems (DS) and storage area networks (SAN) for IBM p-Series.
  • Redistribute/optimize storage usages across servers.
  • Support, troubleshooting and level 2 reporting of storage and backup infrastructure.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the company’s local and distributed storage.
  • Monitor and manage data replication to the disaster recovery center.
  • Manage all user demand for backup, restore, archive and storage needs and provide a suitable solution to meet their needs.
  • Embedded servers for online backup requests with SLA.
  • Provide advice and support for the archive request.
  • Perform administrative tasks on storage and backup infrastructure.
  • Perform the creation and maintenance of users on the infrastructure.
  • Provide reports for audit management and compliance.
  • Compile reports regarding capacity utilization for management decision.
  • Write memo, MEPs for procurement and track approval, implementation and payment.
  • Perform evaluation of team members in accordance with policy.
  • Maintain both electronic and paper filing systems.

  • A first degree in a computer-related field
  • A minimum of 7 years of related experience
  • Related IT certifications will be an added advantage
