Pure Storage has announced a new version of Portworx Enterprise and, with it, a fully managed service to bring a Kubernetes-ready data plane to every developer working on containerized applications. Portworx Enterprise 3.0 is the service’s underlying platform that gives DevOps teams the ability to run production-critical Kubernetes applications with elastic scalability and improved data availability.

The entire Portworx portfolio (Portworx Enterprise, Portworx Backup and Portworx Data Services) can be consumed as a fully managed service by users of Amazon EKS, RedHat OpenShift and any other Kubernetes service (fully managed or upstream distributions) .

The new fully managed service will provide ease of use and faster deployment, allowing DevOps and platform teams to deploy containerized applications to production in seconds instead of weeks or months. Pure Storage offers the service as an installation-free, easy-to-use, and easy-to-manage experience for users lacking container storage expertise, simplifying day 0 and day 2 operations for the Kubernetes data management for production workloads.

Improved performance

Portworx Enterprise 3.0 includes new performance and reliability features. PX-Fast improves performance for applications requiring fast ingestion and delivers low latency and high throughput for online transaction processing (OLTP), online analytical processing (OLAP), and machine learning ( ML). Portworx Kubernetes Data Management provides throughput/IOPs similar to writing directly to high-performance raw disks (NVMe), improving performance 4x. PX-Fast makes Kubernetes data storage appear local to facilitate applications and modern cloud-native data such as video on demand, VoIP, etc., with near zero failure rate.

The new Near-Sync DR feature provides zero data loss between data centers and regions, providing customers with a higher level of business continuity. Portworx Enterprise has always supported disaster recovery capability with zero RPO and fast RTO between two metro clusters with

Free Portworx Backup

Portworx has also introduced a free forever tier of Portworx Backup. Teams using the platform can now get started with Portworx Backup’s fully managed service with no feature restrictions and protect up to 1TB of data at no charge. Each backup instance can manage hundreds of Kubernetes clusters. Free, fully managed Portworx backup can be used indefinitely by any organization looking for an enterprise-grade data protection service to protect their Kubernetes workloads with just a few clicks.
