Storage Canada (ESC) for its comprehensive microgrid and facility renewal project with John Paul II Catholic Secondary School (JP II) of the London District Catholic School Board (LDCSB). ESC’s new annual Energy Storage Awards recognize organizations that drive growth, development and leadership in the energy storage industry from an independent technology perspective.

As the winner of the Landmark Application of Energy Storage Award, Ameresco was selected for its innovation in installing a large-scale microgrid, which is now able to operate completely independently from the main grid during outages, 2,700 covered solar panels for carports, piping for a geothermal heating and cooling system, a 2.2 MWh electrical energy storage system and four electric vehicle charging stations. The clean technology solutions installed at JP II have enabled the school to become the first modernized carbon neutral educational facility in Canada and are designed to eliminate approximately 277 tonnes of carbon per year.

Therefore, we are pleased to name Ameresco Canada as our 2022 recipient for its project at LDCSB John Paul II Catholic High School.
